About Kamchatka

KAMCHATKA VOLCANOES

Kamchatka places 29 active and 160 dead volcanoes. They are situаted in the form of two belts with north-south direction in Eastern and South-Eastern parts of the peninsula and are a part of the Fiery Ring of the Pacific Ocean.

Klyuchevskiy volcanois one of the biggest volcanoes in the world. Its form is a regular cone. The top of the volcano is covered with ice and sides are channeled with splits and encrustations of lava. Diameter of the main crater is 600 m, depth – 250 m.

Bezymyanny Volcano is of the most active volcanoes in the world. Despite rather small height (absolute and relative height is approx. 1200 m) the volcano attracts many volcanologists worldwide. The interest arises due to the constant changes of the modern construction (the volcano has constantly been exploding since 1995), strong explosions and so on.

Mutnovskiy Volcano is situated 70 km to the south of Petropavlovsk – Kamchatskiy. The volcano is four connected cones the youngest of which is Vostochny. Its peak is the highest point (2323 m). Mutnovsky volcano is known for its different volcanic phenomena; visit to the volcano can be compared with the tour to the Valley of Geysers.

Gorely Volcano
The volcano’s appearance is not interesting however one can feel its peculiar beauty when looking into its craters that are located in chain on its top. Each crater has its own peculiar features. All the craters create inimitable assembly.

Karymskiy Volcano is situated in the central part of the Eastern volcanic belt of Kamchatka. The volcano is represented by an ancient caldera and young cone located in its central part.
The explosion of the Karymskiy volcano is accompanied with ash emissions and outbursts from the central crater. Volcanic lavas are so thick that fiery flows do not always reach the bottom of the volcano.

Ksudach Volcano refers to shield-shaped type. The whole top of the volcano is occupied with the caldera in the form of ellipse and size of 7x9 km. The eastern part of the caldera is occupied with two lakes: Klyuchevoye and Shtyubel. Ksudach Volcano is announced a natural monument of landscape and geology.
